Hi LS! Thanks for the reply.
Windows 8.1 definitely has user interface issues. I have been forcing myself to use as experiential training for applications in my workplace. The underlying OS is actually more efficient and robust than Windows 7 (my preferred version of Windows), but the interface is very inefficient and cumbersome. However, since I already relied so heavily on keyboard shortcuts and tools like "Launchy" to run applications the interface issues have been minimized. In either event, the underlying file structure of Windows 8 is identical (as far as I know) to Windows 7. I have not encountered any application that worked under Windows 7 fail to install and function properly under Windows 8. That is why I thought
HuffYUV MT would work without issue.
I can run Windows XP in a VM, but I am intending to transcode 40GB+ files from
HuffYUV MT to standard HuffYUV. So, I would like to minimize the overhead and system lag during encoding. I would avoid using HuffYUV MT all together, but I have a few files that were captured by someone else into HuffYUV MT and I don't have the option to capture again to standard HuffYUV. To my knowledge, I can't transcode them to standard HuffYUV without the MT codec installed first.
Did you use WinRAR, specifically, to extract the codec archive? I will try some other utilities, but I have not encountered a .rar archive that 7-zip would not handle.
