well..depend of the cpu, defrag the hd, how much free space, slave hd to encode.....it all (and more factors) give a big difference in the time to encode needed!
i think...better is a long time waiting for great quality then faster result with bad quality!

I'm not using DVD Rebuilder for prediction, i'm using it to mutaplex audio & keep all menus & extras atomaticly at the push of 1 button

Jorel, read my words : this is DVDRebuilder that call CCE with all the paremeters already set. And it gives you no way to tell that you want to use an alternate Matrix ! I never said I dont know how to change the matrix in CCE
D2S for instance has a choice in the encoder tab to select the matrix. This choice does not exists in Dvdrebuilder.

And how can you do the encoding by yourself ? I mean, there is a way to use DVDRebuilder only for what it call "phase 1" and "phase 3" but doing the encoiding with an external programm ?

3 big problems here:

first my english is horrible(for all and for myself)

second(to Phil) my idea to use the kvcd notch matrix in CCE266(alone or with D2s) and not in DVD Rebuilder(please, just read my words too)

third(to The Untouchable) i was answer you about letterbox here in this thread before Phil answer you in another thread and wrote that you had to wait others recomendations!... and i don't knew that you want the full movie with menus(was not clear in the begining of this thread) cos i always encode the main movie without credits ....then,without menus you don't need predictions(this is what i was trying to show)!

well phil/guys i patched cce 2.67 sp with vmesquitos kvcd notch matrix patch,
then deleted the standard cce mpeg matrix cuz dvdrebuilder kept jumping to it by default, now dvd rebuilder .54 runs cce which has no choice but to use the kvcd notch matrix from vmesquitos patch
ye i'm taking a new approach to KDVD ...
1 MOVIE PER 1 DVD+R WITH ALL MENUS,EXTRAS & AUDIOS & SUBS
Well not all the audios just the english ones.
DVD Rebuilder does it in about 4 hrs & now thanks to u 3 guys, my movie looks wicked !!
ps i now relze why i was getting shitty results,
dvdrebuilder kept jumping to cce's default matrix so i deleted standard matrix & the other reason is i had deen b4 undot
now its beautiful THANK U GUYS !!
if u havent tryed DVD Rebuilder with cce DO IT !! it measure perfect size for your dvdr's & its like having the original movie & all hidden features like easter eggs (all with 1 click)

Lets us know how the final encode comes out

@ Phil and Jorel

I don't know if it is a typing error or what or just a different encoder setting or whay but you guys have different oreder of filters

I saved this from Phil a while ago

Code:
Mpeg2source("...",cpu=4)
LanczosResize(...) ***
Deen()
Undot()
AddBorders(...)***
And JOrel from this post

Code:
Undot()
Deen()
As you can see deen and undot are in different order

can you guys please clarify

also with Phil's script it has cpu=4 at the end of mpeg2source line ,is this only for tpmge

thanx

I don't see the point to keep all extras as they often take half of the DVD . Menu and audio, that's cool.

there u go happy encoding
ps should deen be b4 or after undot??????????????????????????????
this is my script

Undot()
Deen()

I always use Deen then Undot and never thought that the order can have an importance for a script using only that. But Untouchable said he has better result with Undot then Deen as indicated by Jorel.
I can't tell you more until I tested myself the other order.

Hi Phil could you show me how to put cpu=4 in this script

Code:
[AVISYNTH_ NO Resize - Undot - Deen]
0=undot()
1=Deen()
thanx

Code:
[AVISYNTH_ NO Resize - Undot - Deen]
0=BlindPP(cpu=4)
1=undot()
2=Deen()
3=Letterbox(16,16,16,16)
1/ Using blindPP is less efficient than putting "cpu=4" in the mpeg2source line but with D2S there is unfortunally no other choice

2/ As I told, you should use the letterbox line if you do not do any resize because these 16px will be out of the part displayed by the TV screen and putting black there will gain some bytes for the remainder of the picture.
(bit I suppose here you are doing 720*480 target, else don't use that line).

just like you Phil, i never tested the "reverse", or better, deen before undot like you use but i will!
help me to think:
what Deen do and what undot do in the script?...
it's just a question to find the better position for this filters IF it can give differences, ok?
i think that deen will work better without dots(using undot first) than using deen first and removing dots after deens's job!
then... why did you choose to use deen before undot? believe(and you know), your explanations will be apreciated !

and about letterbox for widescreens and hdtvs...we really need that? we still "loose" 16 in the borders?
i swear ,i never tested my encodes without letterbox in this tvs, only in 4:3!
thank you!

Deen is the "full" denoiser that removes the biggest part of what shouldn't be there. Undot focus only on "blinking" points that are generally mosquito noise (already existing in the source of course). That is why I use Deen first, because it is supposed to do 90% of the work.

I thought the opposite : undot will work better after deen cleaned all the other type of noise

You know that the loose is due to electronics and is related to cathodic bulb usage. So yes, you still have overscan in widescreens TV.
Now the question can be : do we need 16px on each side or different value for right/left and top/bottom.
I really don't know.

ok...great! "i really don't know" was perfect ! (just kidding.it's ok)

deen don't will work "too much" if he got dots to "clean"? what will happen with this dots filtered by deen!?!?
...well, better is if we do some tests, right?

thanks!

using dvd bugs life doing short tests only for references!

results loading this scripts in vdubmod to do screenshots :
MPEG2Source("D:\1.D2V")
undot()
deen()

and

MPEG2Source("D:\1a.D2V")
deen()
undot()

no differences using zoom 400% comparing (lots) the pictures (paint).

results using the same scripts in CCE and getting the 2 .mpvs, loading in vdubmod to do scrrenshots:
no differences using zoom 400% comparing (lots too) the pictures (paint).

sample encoded with each script have 7,216 seconds and each encoded .mpv have 5,19Mb (5.316Kb)...just the same size and same quality.

result using that samples before and after encode: just the same!
in my opinion if the positions of this filters give differences(i don't see any) they are irrelevants,
maybe using other sources..who knows?
