Hi,

I’ve captured some AVI using Virtual Dub ( huffyuv + PCM)

Could anyone advise how I can use a different audio codec on capture with Virtual Dub so I can convert the file to mp4 (H264) using Hybrid ( is there a way to add a compatible codec?)

Thanks Tom

Why? Hybrid converts PCM in WAV.
What file has issues?

Hi LS,

When I put the AVI as described into Hybrid, it doesn’t accept the PCM format for mp4 h264( which I understand)
Is it something to do with the selecting the settings on Audio encoding in Hybrid, not sure if I’m missing something so obvious I can’t see it in the settings.
How do I get it too WAV?

Cheers

- VirtualDub stream copy "save as" a tiny 3 second clip of the source AVI.
- Verify Hybrid still does not work.

This is kind of Hybrid 101, but If you haven't already, on the Base page after you have loaded your source file, change the Audio dropdown to Custom. It has a big arrow pointing to it.

Then go to the Audio tab. I don't have the software in front of me as I type, but on that tab you need to pick the encoding you want for the audio (MP3, etc) and the bitrate on the left of the screen, then on the right click the + to add that conversion to the job list.

Once that's all set, Hybrid should be able to complete your encode.

I downloaded both files.

I opened Hybrid on my main Win7 encode/restore system, where I still use version 2020.09.18.0

I dragged the AVI to it, dropped. Selected my custom 4:2:2 H.264 profile. Set output file name, selected MP4. + to add, and moved to Jobs tab to start and monitor. No errors. Encode is fine. Attached.

Repeated on MPEG. Audio there, bad AR messed up. Checked in Hybrid, forced to 1:1 input. Ran it again Now encode in Hybrid is fine. Audio is terrible, helicopter noise.

You have a software problem, either the install itself is bad/corrupt, or how need to roll back some versions. Perhaps test my exact version, Hybrid_dev_2020.09.18-22611.exe, 403mb.

Attached Files
File Type: mp4 lord smurf test a - Copy- encoded with Hybrid.mp4 (5.29 MB, 3 downloads)
File Type: mp4 rya - encoded with Hybrid.mp4 (63.80 MB, 2 downloads)

Thanks LS

Will download your version of Hybrid and test.
Have I done the correct action on audio set up ( as per photo “+ audio encode” profile?)
What does AR mean?
Thanks Tom

AR = aspect ratio

Are you just doing the default AAC settings? That's safest. I believe I am, but adjust the kbps to 160.

Thanks

Yes on the defaukAAC settings ( advice taken on board=160)

THE aspect ratio and audio noise has thrown me as I’m using Canopus hardware to capture to mpeg and never had an issue with their settings, given the time of the video AR 4:3?
Forcing it to 1:1 raises some alarms bells for me.
Ref Audio - There were definitely no helicopters around, is this a hardware system issue ?
I can’t hear it on my
mpeg ( but my hearings not great- it’s crap getting older, my car has a Bose sound system; so it’s wasted on me &#129315

Thanks Tom
